Most dentists use a sharply-pointed pick to check for cavities. Not only can this pick be painful, its proximity to your face can be an uncomfortable experience, especially if you already have anxiety regarding dentists. Unfortunately, cavity detection with this technique is only about sixty-percent effective, and many small cavities go unseen, becoming larger if left untreated. This can lead to unnecessary root canal treatment, crowns, or extractions.
LI Center for Healthier Dentistry offers Laser Dentistry as an alternative to traditional techniques. Dr. Alex Shvartsman utilizes these dental lasers in order to provide you with the most comfortable dental care possible. There are currently four different dental lasers in use in our practice.
The Er:YAG dental laser provides painless tooth cavity treatment without drills! This laser allows our doctors to treat cavities without the use of shots or Novocain. Over ninety-percent of our patients do not feel pain during treatment, and those who do say it isn’t bad enough to need a shot. After our laser cavity treatment, you may have a meal, give a speech, or meet with a client without the worry of numbness in your lips or face. Our laser cavity treatment is a great option for anxious dental patients or patients who do not want Novocain, such as expecting mothers!
The Holistic Root Canal Therapy approach is unique to LI Center for Healthier Dentistry. It is not uncommon for teeth that have had traditional root canal therapy to “fail”. The failure is usually diagnosed months, or even years, after the post and crown are completed. It is very frustrating to have your traditional root canal therapy fail after enduring pain and spending large amounts of time and money.
Many people needlessly suffer from canker sores and aphthous ulcers. At LI Center for Healthier Dentistry, gentle laser energy is used to quickly heal these painful, and sometimes debilitating, mouth ulcers. Pain is reduced immediately, and the ulcers heal in one day as opposed to the usual ten-day healing period.
